Mark Puette never really planned on being an Elvis Impersonator. His new career began after a chance meeting with another Impersonator at a performance in Atlanta, Georgia. A former Radio Announcer and Stand-Up Comic (using celebrity voices), Mark walked up to the Impersonator after the show to congratulate him on a good job by saying...(in Elvis’ voice) “Are you Elvis or am I?” The Impersonator replied, “I just don’t know?” Then he told Mark that if he could sing, he should think about getting into the business (of Impersonating Elvis). Mark bought a couple of Elvis background tapes and began to practice the Act.

After a few weeks of practice, Mark decided to call the Impersonator he had previously met and get his professional opinion. When the man heard Mark’s singing voice, he was impressed enough that he said to Mark, “Get yourself a jumpsuit and go to work!”

Even after buying a wig and perfecting the make-up, Mark wasn’t entirely convinced he wanted to perform as Elvis. Then, one day while watching the Montel Williams Show and hearing that they were looking for volunteers to be “...made over as your favorite celebrity,” Mark called and was chosen over several other hopefuls to be made over as Elvis!

As it turned out, this particular show would be videotaped in none other than...Las Vegas! Even more special - it was being filmed at the Las Vegas Hilton...the very same hotel that Elvis performed at hundreds of times, and also the King’s favorite! Mark took his own wig and make-up and a professional Elvis Impersonator loaned him a jumpsuit. After performing “Heartbreak Hotel”, the audience went crazy! When the show was over, several professional Impersonators told mark...”Man, you need to be doing this for real!” That’s exactly what he’s been doing ever since!


Mark does sing using his own voice rather than lipsinc. He doesn’t try to be Elvis, but simply pays tribute to a very special man. Once the jumpsuit comes off, he is Mark again. As Mark says, “There was only one Elvis Presley and I’m just trying to bring back a few memories.”
